Regulation

1. Date and place

The VK of Zegama-Aizkorri will be held on the May 15, in the town of Zegama (Gipuzkoa) with the start at 4:00 p.m.

2. Course

The event roams over of one side of the Sierra of Aizkorri, it is 5200m in length, with an positive height gain of 1015m.

3. Participation

All athletes, mountaineers and sportsmen and women over the age of 18 will be able to participate, with a maximum of 250 runners, assuming that the instructions in these regulations are followed and that the requirements detailed here are fulfilled.

4. Categories

Male category:
Master more than 18 years old (Age on the day of the event)
Sub23, less than 23 years old (Age on the year of the event)

Female category:
Master more than 18 years old (Age on the day of the event)
Sub23, less than 23 years old (Age on the year of the event)

5. Enrolment

With an anticipated maximum of 250 runners. The pre-registration period for 2026 will be from 26 of January to 6 of February and will cost 1€.
The organization will reserve 50 places to cover all commitments associated with this event.
The organization will reserve another 50 places to enable the participation of runners who recorded the fastest times in the last edition.
The remaining 150 places, to cover a maximum of 250 participants will be drawn by raffle on 20 February among to all those runners who have pre-registered within this period, excluding to the draw the runners who have obtained a place for the cases referred to in the preceding two paragraphs.
Runners participating in the draw for the first time will receive one number for the draw. The runners who have participated in previous draws and haven’t obtained dorsal, have been assigned one number for each draw that have participated and haven’t been obtained dorsal. In the event that a runner has obtained a place, only subsequent draws are counted.

6. Price

The cost of inscription is 30€. The cost of enrolment includes the right to participate in the event, civil responsibility and accident insurance, the use of all services provided by the Organization for the participants, and includes various gifts.

7. Signposting

The course will be properly marked out with signpost indicators and pathway tapes clearly visible.

8. Food and drink

There will be 2 refreshment points available.

9. Check points times

The route between Zegama and Arriaundi will be understood to be neutralised and will serve as a warm-up for the participants. Each participant will have a maximum time of 25 minutes to get from Zegama Square to Arriaundi. In the event of leaving the starting point in Arriaundi before the maximum time, the actual time of departure will be taken into consideration. Otherwise, if the participant takes the start after the maximum time, the time will be calculated from the moment at which he/she should have taken the start at the latest. Likewise, from Arriaundi to Itzubiaga each participant will have a maximum time of 40 minutes, and those who exceed this time will have their bibs withdrawn.

11. Number allocation

The allocation of the numbers that are to be worn will be carried out on the porch of City Hall, on the 15th of May 2026, between the hours of 13:00 and 16:00 in the evening.

The bib can only be collected by the owner upon showing his or her identification.

12. Environment

The majority of the race passes through landscapes of exceptional natural beauty, therefore it will be obligatory for all to preserve the environment by not dropping litter outside the checkpoint areas. To this end, rubbish bins will be located up to a maximum distance of 100 metres from the checkpoint. The non-fulfilment of this elementary rule on the part of runners will be cause for disqualification.

13. First aid

The Organization will make available Help and Rescue Services in the most strategic points of the course. It will also provide massage services, showers, toilets and first aid medical attention for those sportsmen and women who have a particular need.

14. Safety

The Organization reserves the right to divert the race over an Alternative route and to effect the modifications that it considers necessary in function of changing conditions. This includes the suspension of the event if the meteorological conditions make it necessary or in the case of an act of God, always with the prior agreement of the Race Committee.

15. Accident rescue

The participants are obliged to help those suffering accidents that are in need of help, as well as to inform the checkpoints of any mishap.

16. Responsibility

The Organization accepts no responsibility in the case of accident or negligence, or for the personal possessions of each participant, although it will provide cloakroom facilities at the start-finish line. The participants will be responsible for all damage or injury that they may cause to themselves or to third parties.

17. Compulsory material

Runners have to wear windproof coat and carry a cup for liquids and thermal blanket during the whole race.
